Rio de Janeiro radiates an undeniable vibrancy, and my goal for this logo mark was to encapsulate the city’s essence, its rich culture, and the unifying spirit of the Olympic Games. Inspired by landmarks like Sugarloaf Mountain, the rhythmic patterns of Copacabana Beach, and the dynamic movement of Olympic athletes, I wove these elements into the design. The result is a logo that not only reflects Rio’s iconic energy but also embodies the global unity and athletic excellence of the Olympics.
The logo serves as the visual anchor of any branding effort—a first impression and a lasting symbol. For the Rio 2016 Olympics, the challenge was to create branding and design assets that captured Rio’s vibrance while meeting the professional and functional demands of such a prestigious global event. From initial sketches to the polished design, every element was crafted to encapsulate the spirit of the Games and the heart of Rio.
